The Church Times Green Awards

Key players in the Christian environmental movement have come together – not least for the sake of the world’s poorest people – to acknowledge the outstanding action already being undertaken by many churches. There’s plenty more to do, of course, but we wanted to celebrate the progress that has been made, and so have launched an innovative set of awards.

The other reason for doing this is to inspire others to become more active in the nurturing of our planet. So, tell us your stories. Even if you don’t win one of the awards, your example will help to inspire others, as we tell our readers about your good work.

The awards are:

  1. Action with the community - Conservation Foundation
  2. Biodiversity - A Rocha UK
  3. Campaigning to cut the carbon - Operation Noah/Christian Ecology Link
  4. Celebrating creation - Eco-congregation
  5. Changing Lifestyles - Tearfund/ A Rocha’s Living Lightly 24:1
  6. Energy saving in church buildings - Shrinking the Footprint/Marches Energy Agency
  7. International action - Christian Aid
  8. Young people - Christian Aid
  9. Overall award: Best of the best - Church Times

Everything about the awards can be found out via the menu on the left. A couple of key things: the deadline for applications is 30 June. We’ll draw up shortlists for each award during July, then publish stories from the shortlists in the Church Times during August and September. We are planning an award ceremony in October. Details soon.
